Welcome to Sugar Grove Consolidated Elementary School!

Welcome to Sugar Grove Elementary School, Home of the Sugar Bears!

Welcome! I am thrilled to serve as the principal of Sugar Grove Elementary, a school with a long-standing tradition of excellence, community, and family. Sugar Grove has a rich history dating back to 1869, when the first school opened in a two-story brick building nestled in a grove of sugar maples. Over the years, our school has grown and evolved, yet we have always maintained a strong focus on creating a welcoming environment where every child is known, valued, and encouraged to reach their full potential. Today, Sugar Grove continues to be a place where students feel part of a caring community, learning is engaging, and family involvement is celebrated.

I am a proud graduate of Vigo County schools and hold both a Bachelor of Science in Health and Safety Education (with minors in Physical Education and Nutrition) and a Master’s in Secondary School Administration from Indiana State University, as well as my K–12 Administrative Licenses. Throughout my career, I have taught PE and Health at multiple middle and high schools, coached several sports, and served as Dean of Students and Principal. I am deeply passionate about supporting students of all abilities, helping them grow academically, socially, and personally.

Over the years, I have been honored with several awards, including Fazoli’s Restaurant “Best Boss of the Year,” the Indiana State University Community School of the Arts Friend of the Arts Award in 2018, and the Vigo County Education Foundation Excellence in Education Award in 2020. I am also a proud parent of three wonderful daughters, which brings an added joy and perspective to my work with students and families.

At Sugar Grove, our mission goes beyond academics. We focus on fostering curiosity, creativity, and a sense of belonging. Our staff takes pride in knowing each student individually and encouraging them to achieve their best in a supportive, family-like environment. Whether through classroom learning, arts, athletics, or community activities, we strive to provide every child with meaningful experiences that will help them succeed in school and in life.

We are committed to continuing the positive traditions of Sugar Grove, honoring our history while embracing innovation and growth. I am honored to be part of this vibrant school community and look forward to working with our students, families, and staff to make every year at Sugar Grove an exceptional one.
